    Description:

About the School for Mime Theatre

The School for Mime Theatre evolved from the creation, by Gregg Goldston, of The Goldston School for Mmes, a center for mimes to work on the development of their performance skills along with the creation of
writing and construction methods that would advance the art form. This fertile laboratory was guided by the vision of Goldston, C. Nicholas Johnson & Deborah Wasserman, to become one of the most vital
ongoing centers for Mime in the Americas.

The School for Mime Theatre of today, continues this mission as a center where artists can work in a non-competitive environment where faculty, with students, live and work together as a company, creating and furthering the development of the art form and their artistic directions.

Classes are taught in the techniques of Marcel Marceau, Etienne Decroux and the unique skills evolved throughout the years of
teaching, creating and performing by the staff.

Housing is a short walk from the theatre and
studio. Units are single room quads with a shared bath and kitchen in a lovely, secluded, wooded area of the Kenyon College campus. Linen service is provided and a short walk leads to the village center with bank, grocery, bookstore and recreation center.

The new athletic center is available to students and faculty and affords use of an Olympic swimming pool, weight room and sauna. Tennis courts are nearby.

Travel by air is easiest if you arrive at Columbus International Airport, Columbus, Ohio. It is about a 45 mile drive from there to the campus of Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. Shuttle pick up at the airport
can be arranged through the School for Mime Theatre for $35.00 one way. Late
    arrivals are $50.00.

Upon acceptance into the 2008 School for Mime Theatre Siminar, you will be contacted
to discuss your travel plans, and will need to
complete a short travel plan survey.
