As each year, remarkable theatre performances from all over the world will be shown. There are a large number of festivals with mime in their names; sadly most have long since replaced mime with spoken word and performances to be seen there have little in common with the real art of mime.
In preparing the eighth edition of the festival we have selected performances that demonstrate what the contemporary art of mime and physical theatre is. We will have the opportunity to discover it is a theatre of many surprising faces resulting from a number of different theatrical cultures and aesthetics. It is a theatre which offers its own truth by creating a different reality on the stage, by searching for true emotions. We can say with pride our festival has become one of the most important festivals of the art of mime in the world.
This year's festival will include performances of theatre groups from Japan, the United States, Russia, England and Poland. An event of unquestionable significance will be the premiere of the Wroclaw Mime Theatre (Wroclawski Teatr Pantomimy).
We would also like to invite you to a multimedia exhibition "Warsaw Mime" ("Warszawska Pantomima"). It is the first part of an exhibition to present the history of mime theatres in Warsaw over the past thirty years.
During the festival we will host, in addition to the artists, actors, festival directors and spectators from a number of European countries. Theater artists from India have also confirmed their participation.
In response to the strong interest in mime theatre over the entire theatrical season we have decided to set up the Warsaw Pantomime Center at the Teatr Na Woli.
