In 2009 Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre will offer the 6th Company Internship Program. This innovative program provides one of the few opportunities in Australia for emerging artists (actors, directors, producers, teachers & administrators) to acquire the skills and contacts necessary to make the transition into the professional performing arts industry. Closely mentored by the Zen Zen Zo Artistic Directors and company members, the Interns undertake a series of intensive training units in acting, physical theatre, auditioning, networking, marketing, grant writing, teaching, administration, finance, preparing budgets, fitness training, sports psychology, as well as meeting some of Australia’s preeminent Arts Leaders, and performing in a Zen Zen Zo production.There is also one place provided for a director, who in addition to the above units will also be mentored specifically in theatre direction by the Artistic Director whilst creating their own work.
The 2009 Company Internship will take place over a 6-month period. As the program will be both physically and psychologically demanding, the Internship needs to take top priority during this period and participants can not undertake either full-time work or study. Entrance is by application only (see below), and a maximum of 12 Interns (including the Intern Director) will be accepted into the program.
